Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Morning: 6:00 AM: Pick-up from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe by your safari guide.
6:30 AM: Begin the scenic drive to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, located in southwestern Uganda. The drive takes approximately 8-10 hours, depending on the traffic and road conditions.
8:00 AM: Breakfast en route (typically in Mbarara).
11:00 AM: Short stop at the Equator for photo opportunities and a brief explanation of the Equator line.
Afternoon: 1:00 PM: Lunch at a local restaurant in Kabale town.
3:00 PM: Continue the journey to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
5:00 PM: Arrival and check-in at your lodge (standard options include Mount Gahinga Lodge or a mid-range option like Lake Chahafi Resort).
5:30 PM: Relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the park. If time allows, you can take a short nature walk around the lodge.
Evening: 7:00 PM: Dinner at the lodge.
8:00 PM: Pre-trekking briefing by your guide about the next day's gorilla trekking experience.
Overnight: Stay at your selected lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Return to Kampala/Entebbe
Morning: 5:30 AM: Early breakfast at the lodge.
6:30 AM: Transfer to the park headquarters for registration and briefing by the park rangers.
7:30 AM: Begin your gorilla trekking adventure. The trek can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family. You will spend one hour with the gorillas once you find them.
Afternoon: 12:00 PM: Return to the lodge for lunch.
1:00 PM: Check-out from the lodge and begin the drive back to Kampala/Entebbe.
4:00 PM: Stop in Mbarara for a coffee break or snack.
Evening: 7:00 PM: Continue the drive to Kampala/Entebbe.
9:00 PM: Arrival and drop-off at your hotel or airport, concluding your safari.
